Thanks to the Public Works Programme of the Croatian Employment Service, in 2011 two workers were employed to clear and tidy the Colentum archaeological site of vegetation. The public works were professionally supervised by the Šibenik City Museum and coordinated by the Argonauta association in cooperation with the Municipality of Murter-Kornati, the utility company Murtela and others. This project had a positive effect on the local community: on the one hand, part of the vegetation was cleared and part of the archaeological site was tidied, which adds new value to the site, and at the same time local unemployment was reduced.
In the autumn of 2017, through the Croatian Employment Service's Public Works Programme, the Municipality of Murter-Kornati again employed 9 workers who tidy and clean the area of the Municipality of Murter-Kornati, including the Colentum archaeological site.
Staff of the Kornati National Park Public Institution made a special contribution to the site. 15 employees of Kornati National Park clean, tidy and build dry-stone walls at the Colentum archaeological site. Their contribution stands out in the building and restoration of the dry-stone walls along the archaeological beach at Colentum, all according to architect Vinko Peračić's project for the Archaeological and Recreational Park at Colentum.
The Argonauta association has also organised several clean-up campaigns with its volunteers. As there is room for many more work campaigns at Colentum, we invite everyone interested to join us in future campaigns so that together we can contribute to the valorisation of this archaeological site.
