„Suhozidna ekstravaganca 3” među najboljim projektima baštine u okviru programa Erasmus+ 2018. godine

The Argonauta association carries out a large number of activities within the Erasmus+ programme. Erasmus+ is the EU programme for education, training and sport in Europe. Between 2014 and 2020, its budget of EUR 14.7 billion will give more than 4 million Europeans the opportunity to study, train, gain experience and volunteer abroad.

Our association has successfully carried out some twenty projects within the Erasmus+ programme, and the positive experiences and impressions of the young people who took part in them confirm our good work. These days, special recognition for a well-implemented project arrived directly from the office of the European Union. The Argonauta association's project “Dry Stone Wall Extravaganza 3” was among the most successful projects within the Erasmus+ programme for 2018, and a summary of the project was published in the brochure Enriching our cultural heritage .

The objectives of the “Dry Stone Wall Extravaganza 3” project were to promote the Colentum archaeological site as a valuable part of European cultural heritage; to improve knowledge and raise awareness of the values of cultural/archaeological heritage and its potential for the sustainable development of rural areas; to encourage young people to engage in civic activism and volunteering; and to present the opportunities offered by the Erasmus+ programme. The project helped raise public awareness of and interest in the need to protect and valorise the Colentum archaeological site on Gradina hill in Murter.

This brochure presents some inspiring examples of what can be achieved in education, training and youth work with cultural heritage. It was created to encourage cultural heritage professionals to develop their educational activities with the help of the Erasmus+ programme. The EU programme, which has also played an important role in uniting Europe, has a vital role in sharing and preserving our diverse and common European cultural heritage. The publication was released in 2018, the European Year of Cultural Heritage, which also included Argonauta projects such as “Dry Stone Wall Extravaganza 4” and “Colentum Night”.

We thank all our associates for their cooperation in preparing and implementing the “Dry Stone Wall Extravaganza 3” project, and we especially thank our volunteers who contributed to the valorisation of the Colentum archaeological site.
