Under Measure 19 “Support for local development under the LEADER initiative (CLLD – community-led local development)” of the Rural Development Programme of the Republic of Croatia, LAG “More 249” has awarded the Municipality of Murter-Kornati funds under the call “Investment in the start-up, improvement or expansion of local basic services for the rural population, including leisure and cultural activities and related infrastructure”.
The amount is HRK 214,962.50; the application for support was received by the LAG “More 249” office last year and approved in February this year. According to the approved project and its purpose, the funds are intended for a themed historical children's playground on the plateau by the Roman cistern. When this playground is followed by the project for the Colentum Archaeological Park, a major undertaking for the near future, the new playground will round off the story of the ancient town of Colentum.
The themed historical playground, with all its spirit of the past, will certainly be enjoyed by local children, but also by all visitors to Murter, especially those on the historical and educational tourist excursion that runs during the summer, when the guides stop for a short break and tell the story of the impressive Roman cistern “in the middle of an olive grove”, which to many also looks like a dungeon. The first works are eagerly awaited – follow the Municipality of Murter-Kornati website and the Murter NEWS portal for the latest information on the works!
