Colentum će krasiti „Veseli obluci”, kamenčići voluntarizma

This morning, the first workshop with children with developmental difficulties was held at the premises of the Argonauta association, in cooperation with the Šubićevac Education Centre. The workshop was held as part of the International Archaeological Camp, which the Argonauta association runs in cooperation with the Šibenik City Museum, the Municipality of Murter-Kornati and the Šubićevac Education Centre.

The workshop called “Happy Pebbles” carries an interesting story: the story of the Colentum archaeological site and its connection with volunteers. Although not fully researched, Colentum is one of the more important archaeological sites in Šibenik-Knin County. Its importance was neglected for many years and research was suspended for a long time, and then, on the initiative of the Argonauta association, the story of the sleeping town of Colentum began. In cooperation with the Šibenik City Museum, archaeological research was resumed, and numerous initiatives and smaller and larger projects started activities for its valorisation. Through many activities, Colentum has been visited by many volunteers whose work has helped shape Colentum as it is today – one step away from an archaeological and recreational park. Building the access path, clearing vegetation, helping with archaeological excavations, carrying stones, building and restoring dry-stone walls, cleaning the beach and marking the goat track are just some of the activities of Colentum's many volunteers.

The main activity of the “Happy Pebbles” workshop is writing the names of all Colentum volunteers so far and all project partners, and painting the flags of the volunteers' countries on small pebbles that will be placed on the wall of the Colentum archaeological beach. In this way we want to thank all the volunteers for every hour and day of work at Colentum and show them how much their small contribution has meant for this site.

The workshop involves children from the Šubićevac Education Centre, who paint the pebbles with the help and supervision of teacher Ivana Miškić, special education teacher Vedrana Ćetković and staff and volunteers of the Argonauta association. The workshops will run until Friday, and the placing of the pebbles will be organised in cooperation with the project partners.
