About the project
Project acronym TANGRAM is short for the full name: “Transnational resources of national parks and nature parks on the Adriatic-Ionian tourist market” / “Transnational pArks aNd Gardens Resources in Adriatic and ionian tourist Marketplace”.
This project, in which the Argonauta association takes part as a partner, started on 1 February 2020 and will run until 31 July 2022. The project is financed under the Interreg ADRION programme through the European Regional Development Fund (European Regional Development Fund, ERDF) and IPA II funds.
Project summary
The ADRION region is one of the richest regions in Europe in terms of cultural diversity, with a remarkable wealth of different cultures, traditions, languages, religions and architectural heritage, ranging from antiquity to modern times.
However, the level of accessibility and presentation of cultural and landscape tourist attractions varies considerably between the countries of the area, most of all in the accessibility of national parks, nature parks and other protected natural areas as tourist attractions.
The TANGRAM project will provide input and solutions to develop an optimal framework for coordinating the relevant activities and will support the development of transnational strategies for the joint promotion of protected natural areas (national parks, nature parks, etc.) in the Adriatic-Ionian region as tourist destinations, thanks to the development of the TANGRAM Transnational Network, which will be developed through a benchmarking process of best practices in the region.
Local initiatives do not always complement each other or follow an integrated approach, but through this project they will be included in local action plans and in the Transnational Action Plan, which will identify future joint activities in the ADRION area.
TANGRAM will support sustainable tourism models through the valorisation and promotion of protected natural areas as tourist destinations, networked with other major cultural and natural resources of the Adriatic-Ionian region, based on jointly developed methodological tools and a new management system based on a participatory approach.
A different set of tourism products, based on a unique and innovative transnational model, will enrich the tourist offer of the ADRION region and enable tourist flows, especially outside the main season, stimulate the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises, improve public and private transnational cooperation among stakeholders in the tourism supply chain and raise the quality of life of local people, which will be tested through local pilot actions.
Objectives
The purpose of the project is to build and promote the ADRION tourism brand by promoting the sustainable valorisation and integration of the brand into the tourist offer of national parks and nature parks as tourist resources with additional potential, through an innovative management system based on cooperation between stakeholders.
